Cedar Point the Amusement Park

Filed under: Day in the life — denalithedog @ 6:38 am

Cedar Point is one of the best amusement parks Northwest Ohio has to offer. It’s located in Sandusky, Ohio and earlier this week Denali and I just happened to be in the the area for business so we made a quick stop. Upon reaching the toll booth with Denali hanging his head out the window, I somehow convinced the lady in the booth to let us in free so I could take a photo of Denali. Honestly, it must have been a very odd site to see a golden retriever walk the parking lot at a nationally known amusement park. During our stroll to the entrance, I heard over and over, “Look at the dog”, ” Wow there’s a dog”, “Here puppy, puppy”. A little boy asked me, “Is the dog going on a roller coaster?” I told him, “No, but that would be a really cool photo idea.” When we finally made it to the entrance, I put a pair of riding glasses on Denali and took his photo!

Dogs loves berry’s and fresh fruit

Filed under: Day in the life — denalithedog @ 5:57 am

One of my favorite things to eat in the summer is fresh fruit and apparently, Denali likes it too. Saturday morning I was cleaning some blackberries, raspberries, and strawberries. As I was rinsing them, I put them on a paper towel to dry. While I was doing this, I noticed that some of them were disappearing. Since Denali and I were alone in the house and I had yet to try one, I knew who the culprit was. So to see how gutsy Denali is, I sat across the table from Denali and the berries with my camera. After having strong but intense eye contact with Denali for about a minute, he swiped a berry. “A-HA,” I said to Denali as I chuckled out loud. Momma loves you!

Dogs Dancing Shaking Rattling & Rolling

Filed under: Day in the life — denalithedog @ 5:55 am

Denali loves to shake, rattle, and roll. Well, that’s how I describe it, and he does it about a hundred times a day. When you snuggle or give Denali a kiss, his first reaction is to shake which sets off the noises from his collar. Then before you know it, Denali is rolling on the ground, head first with his bum high up in the air and his tail waggling. Denali never disappoints me and during our morning walk the other day, he started to shake and I knew what was coming next. Thankfully, I had my camera with me┬áduring this shake, rattle, and roll moment. Have a great weekend everyone!

Dogs & Gardens

Filed under: Day in the life — denalithedog @ 6:09 am

My dad’s prized possession is his garden, which my mother hates. She despises the garden because my father spends the majority of the summer working in it. Over the weekend, Denali and I were visiting my parents. As soon as I let Denali out the sliding glass door, he ran over to my dad who was planting in the garden. Normally Denali does not go near the garden, but on this occasion my dad forgot to put the gate back, so Denali joined him. My father started shouting at me, “Get the dog out of my garden.” I took off towards the garden to save Denali from my dad while my mother stood at the sliding glass door cheering Denali on. By the time I got to the garden, D was laying down next to my father patiently observing his planting technique. Well… I think next time my dad will remember to put the gate back up. I LOVE you Denali!!

Dogs and Water and Doggie Paddle

Filed under: Day in the life — denalithedog @ 6:05 am

It’s finally starting to feel like spring in Northwest Ohio. Yesterday the weather was in the high 70’s so I took Denali for an afternoon stroll at Maumee Bay State Park in Oregon, Ohio. After walking a trail and stopping every two minutes to sniff about, Denali eagerly led me to the waters of Lake Erie. Thankfully, Denali was attached to me with his leash and I was wearing my running shoes or otherwise he’d be in the water showing off his impressive doggie paddle. Being the thoughtful mum that I am, I brought along a pair of sunglasses for Denali to help him protect his eyes, which he actually really likes, and had him pose for a photo. Have a great weekend everyone!

Doggles Dog Glasses

Filed under: Day in the life — denalithedog @ 5:50 am

I was spring cleaning this weekend and much to Denali’s dismay, I found his Doggles. These are Denali’s first pair of glasses which I purchased for him years ago in Pennsylvania. He was never a huge fan of them but I always thought he looked really cute wearing them. Have a fabulous week everyone!

Dog Walking

Filed under: Day in the life — denalithedog @ 6:05 am

Wednesday morning I was minding my own business working at the kitchen table on my computer. I looked up and Denali was standing there smiling at me with his leash in his mouth and his tale waggling. “Denali, are you trying to tell me something?” I said. He’s amazing, Denali goes on walks everyday, either with me or my father. He just loves to lead us around town. So, not to disappoint my furry son, I took a break from the computer, grabbed a few bags, put on my hiking boots, and off we walk to the river. Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

Dog Driving

Filed under: Day in the life — denalithedog @ 5:47 am

Denali has grown up on the road and loves going for rides. Normally, he sits on the back bench and every so often Denali will come up front and rest his paws on my arm rest to look out the front window. Saturday, my brother was driving Denali & I. Well, Denali must have been lonely because he joined us in the front row of the Jeep. As first, 80 pound Denali climbed over to me and sat in my lap with his head out the side window. After receiving a mouth full of dog hair with my visibility options very low, Denali decided to visit my brother while he was driving. Being the considerate, lovable sister that I am, instead of prying Denali off of my brothers lap, I grabbed my camera while my brother was yelling at me and took a photo of the two of them. Denali, Denali, really now…I love you so!!
