We have been working on a new Denali The Dog photo and once again the wigs, Denali, and I are not getting along. After spending the morning nursing a large pot of espresso, I decided to purchase some hairspray and curlers with hopes of styling the wig myself. Well, Denali has never seen his mother in curlers or smelled hairspray and he could not get his nose out of the wig. He treated the wig as if it was a dog treat or something. Next time I’ll have to remember not to purchase a fruity flavor of hairspray. Have a great weekend everyone!

One thing I miss in my life since Denali has been around is privacy. At times, I think Denali is attached to me with some type of invisible velcro strip. Denali is my baby and I love him to pieces, but sometimes it’s nice to have a little alone time. For example, Saturday morning I was cleaning my bathroom and the door was shut. As soon as I closed the door, Denali would start whining and within moments he would somehow open the door with his nose, stand there, and stare at me.. Really now?? After he opened the door about the fourth time, I walked out, got my camera, returned, and shut the door. Denali Denali… Momma loves you!

Denali and I hung out with two of our favorite little ladies this week. The first thing little Miss J said when she entered my house was, “Where is my buddy.” As soon as she spotted Denali laying on his beddy, she ran over to him and they spent the next hour snuggling together watching cartoons. I have to admit, when I can’t find my pillow, the next best thing to snuggle with is Denali. Have a fabulous weekend everyone!

When it’s time to go to bed, Denali always gets on my queen size bed before I do. You can say he’s a bit selfish and lays horizontally in the center and refuses to move. At first I tried to move him and every time I did he would moan and groan. By the time I moved him into a position where I could lay vertical on my bed like a normal person, he would be back in the original position taking up the majority of my bed. So, after years of fighting for my spot in bed, I too, thanks to Denali, lay horizontally at the top of my bed where the pillows go. It’s amazing what you do for your dog!

Denali and I want to wish everyone a HAPPY and safe ST PATRICK’S DAY. I took this photo on my front porch and had a really hard time convincing Denali that I wanted him to look like a St Patty’s Day doggie leprechaun. But I reassured him that if he held onto the pipe while wearing the green wig, green hat and green shirt he would. Thankfully, Denali was a good boy and after I took the photo, we promptly jumped into the Jeep, took off to McDonald’s, and we shared a Shamrock Shake. They are sooo good and note, Denali was not in St Patty’s Day costume at that time!

Denali wants you to meet his new friend Barb, a volunteer in the gift shop at St Luke’s Hospital in Maumee, Ohio. The hospital is a brand new location to purchase your Denali The Dog cards. While I was stocking the card rack and chatting with Barb, I told her Denali was waiting in the Jeep for me. I asked her if she would pose with Denali in a photo to show off his new location. To my surprise, she said, “I have read and heard so much about him, it would be an honor.” I did not know what to say to her other than she made me feel really good. So, if you have a loved one in the hospital come down to the gift shop and give them a Denali The Dog card, it will be the best medicine they will get.

Denali and I are currently working on a new Denali The Dog photo. For this photo, I’m having some issues with a new wig that is a bit large. Every time I placed it on Denali, within minutes it would slide forward and cover his eyes. He was a great sport at first, but after the tenth take, he decided it was time for a break and laid down. If only they made special wigs for golden retrievers it would be so much easier. Have a great weekend everyone!

Friday night Denali and I spent the evening watching our favorite two little ladies. Instead of playing dress-up with Denali’s clothes, they wanted to bake cookies with Denali. The girls were very helpful measuring out the ingredients while Denali was helpful keeping the floors clean. On a few occasions, Denali became a bit impatient waiting for the food to hit the floor so he joined the girls at the table. The little ladies were very good with Denali and tried their best to keep the food out of his reach when he joined them. I really need to work on Denali’s manners. Have a great day everyone!

Yesterday, I was in my kitchen filling Denali’s blue food tub. Just after I ripped open the bag, my phone in my bedroom rang. Not thinking, I ran to my room to get the phone. After a 20 minute phone call I returned to the kitchen and found Denali’s head buried into the 35 pound dog food bag, enjoying an unlimited supply. He stopped for a moment, looked up at me, then continued to eat more. Since this time I was at fault, and instead of yelling at him, I took a photo to share with everyone. After I shot the photo, I pulled him away from the now half-filled bag, grabbed his leash, and we promptly went on a long walk. If only dog food was not so expensive!!
